Octahedron Stellations


Using either the fully supported or Miller's rules criterion (Webb), the regular octahedron has two reflexible stellations: the octahedron itself and the stella octangula.

The original octahedron, its 8 facial planes, and the intersections of those planes with the facial plane of the "top" face are illustrated above.

OctahedronStellationDiagram

The stellation diagram obtained by the intersection of 6 planes not parallel to a fixed plane is illustrated above (Wenninger 1989, p. 36, Fig. 24) and corresponds to the 2-triangular grid graph.
