Binary Form

A binary form is a homogeneous bivariate polynomial of the form

 f(x,y)=sum_(i=0)^na_ix^iy^(n-i),

where n is the degree of f(x,y). Such a binary form f(x,y) is often denoted <a_0,a_1,a_2,...,a_n>.

A binary form with n=2 is called a binary quadratic form.
